Amazing Apple Card concept shows the power of augmented reality

A concept artist created an answer for anyone dubious about the usefulness of augmented reality. His video demonstrates how AR could give an Apple Card user their balance and recent transactions with only a glance.

Watch the full concept video now:

Augmented Credit Card

The video “Augmented Apple Card” is the brainchild of Volodymyr Kurbatov. “There are plenty of demos that show some finance info on a card. I wanted to make it one step further and explore interactions in context,” he said.

The concept published April 14 shows the user seeing their balance through augmented reality just by picking up the Apple Card, rather than having to look this information up in their iPhone’s Wallet app. Flipping it over displays recent transactions. The user can even change what’s being displayed by touching the card.

This concept is only a dream right now, but demonstrates the potential of augmented reality to make our everyday lives simpler.

2020 is the year for Apple augmented reality

Analysts and rumormongers point to Apple making a big push into Apple augmented reality in 2020. An it’s already started by building a LiDAR scanner into the 2020 iPad Pro. This autumn’s iPhone Pro models are reportedly getting the same 3D scanner, which will be a considerable upgrade to its AR capabilities.

Augmented Reality superimposes images on the real world, so it needs an accurate 3D map of its area. In Kurbatov’s concept, the iPhone would need to know exactly where the Apple Card is and how it’s being held.

And iOS 14 will allegedly have an AR viewer built in. Using this application, potentially someone really could get additional information just by viewing their Apple Card.

Plus, this company is supposedly working on a set of AR glasses. These could launch in two years or so.

Add a one-tap AirPods connect button to your Home screen or Dock If you own multiple iOS devices, then AirPods are supremely convenient. As soon as you connect them to one device, they automatically pair (and remain paired) to all your other devices. So, if you have a Mac, an iPhone, an iPad, and an Apple Watch, then all you have to do is tap connect on whichever device you want to use. The problem is that the connect button is hidden, and a pain to reach. You have to swipe to open Control Center, then tap the AirPlay icon, then tap your AirPods in the list. And then wait a few seconds to see if it worked. Admittedly, this is a…

Trashed Apple Watch prototypes bear weird markings and logos New photos of rare Apple Watch prototypes give us a sneak peek at pre-production versions of Apple’s first ever smartwatch. The prototypes, which date back to early 2014 — a year before Apple Watch made its official debut — were discovered at an unspecified e-waste facility. Their new owner plans to restore them before selling them on. Getting your hands on prototype Apple devices is incredibly difficult. It is certainly not common for them to make their way into the public domain. And yet, Italian developer Giulio Zompetti has a bunch of them. His latest haul is half a dozen early Apple Watch prototypes that were used for testing before Apple added its finishing touches.…
